Shrink Wrap Pallet Calculator
Shrink Wrap Pallet Calculator
Wrapping pallets for shipping or storage? This calculator estimates the total stretch wrap length needed to fully secure a load.
Perimeter = 2 x (Width + Depth)
Total Wrap Length = Perimeter x Wraps x (Height / 18in per band)
Example
A 40in x 48in pallet, 60in tall, wrapped 3 full passes:
Perimeter = 176 in → ~147 ft of stretch wrap
Why the 18-Inch Band Reference Matters
Standard hand-held stretch wrap dispensers apply roughly an 18-inch tall band per pass around a pallet - fully covering a tall pallet requires multiple overlapping passes stacked vertically, which is exactly what this calculation accounts for.
More Wraps for Heavier or Less Stable Loads
Increasing the number of full wraps beyond the default of 3 is common practice for heavier, taller, or less stable pallet loads, since additional wrap layers meaningfully improve load containment during transit and reduce the risk of shifting.
