Saddle-Stitch Booklet Calculator
Saddle-Stitch Booklet Calculator
Planning a saddle-stitched booklet? This calculator converts your total page count into the number of sheets needed.
Sheets Needed = Total Pages / 4
Example
A 16-page booklet:
Sheets Needed = 16 / 4 = 4 sheets of paper
Why Page Counts Must Be a Multiple of 4
Saddle-stitching folds each full sheet in half down the middle, and stapling through that fold creates exactly 4 pages per sheet (front and back of the two resulting leaves) - this physical constraint is why booklet page counts always come in multiples of 4.
Adding Blank Pages to Round Up
If your actual content doesn't land on an exact multiple of 4, publishers commonly add blank pages (or an inside-back-cover ad, notes page, etc.) at the end to round the total up cleanly, rather than trying to force an impossible odd page count.
