Why Bobbin Usage Roughly Matches Top Thread
Bobbin thread consumption roughly matches top thread consumption for standard straight stitching, since both threads interlock at roughly a 1:1 ratio along the seam length.
When Bobbin Usage Runs Higher
Decorative stitching, satin stitch, or heavy topstitching can use noticeably more bobbin thread per inch of visible seam than plain straight stitching - budget extra bobbins for projects using these denser stitch types.
