Pattern Scaling Calculator

Pattern Scaling Calculator: Resize a Pattern Consistently

Scaling a sewing pattern up or down, whether for a different size or a printed pattern grid mismatch, requires applying the same percentage to every measurement to keep proportions correct. This calculator handles the conversion for each individual measurement.

The Formula

New Measurement = Original Measurement × (Scale% / 100)

Worked Example

A 20" original measurement scaled to 125%.

New Measurement = 20 × 1.25 = 25"

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the original measurement.
  2. Enter the scale percentage (100% keeps the original size).
  3. Click Calculate to get the new measurement.
  4. Repeat for every measurement on the pattern using the same percentage.
