KDA improves on simple K/D by including assists - eliminations you helped set up but didn't personally finish - recognizing team-oriented contribution that a kills-only metric misses entirely.
Worked example
For 10 kills, 5 deaths, and 15 assists:
KDA = (10 + 15) / 5 = 5.0
Frequently asked questions
Why is KDA usually higher than K/D for the same player? Because assists get added to the numerator alongside kills, KDA is mathematically always greater than or equal to K/D for the same match data - this is exactly why KDA is generally considered the more complete of the two stats in team-based games.
What happens with zero deaths? To avoid dividing by zero, deaths are treated as 1 in that specific edge case, which is the standard convention most game stat trackers use as well.
