Crypto Portfolio Allocation Calculator

A Portfolio's Weighting Drifts Even When You Never Trade

Buy an even split across a handful of coins and, months later, the split is no longer even — not because of any new purchase, but because the coins didn't appreciate at the same rate. A holding that started as 30% of a portfolio can silently become 60% simply by outperforming everything else, quietly concentrating risk that was never explicitly chosen. This calculator takes a list of holdings and their current dollar values and reports the exact percentage weight of each, showing where a portfolio actually stands today rather than where it started.

The Formula

Allocation % = (Asset Value ÷ Total Portfolio Value) × 100

Every holding's percentage is calculated against the same total, so the full list of percentages always sums to 100%.

A Worked Example

A portfolio holding $15,000 in Bitcoin, $8,000 in Ethereum, and $2,000 in Solana:

Example portfolio allocation
AssetValueAllocation
Bitcoin$15,00060.00%
Ethereum$8,00032.00%
Solana$2,0008.00%
Total$25,000100.00%

Where This Calculation Matters

  • Rebalancing decisions — identifying which holdings have grown beyond their intended target weight and by how much, before deciding whether to trim them.
  • Concentration risk — a portfolio that looks diversified by number of coins held can still be dominated by a single asset in dollar terms.
  • Tracking drift over time — re-running the same holdings list periodically shows how allocation has shifted purely from price movement.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter each holding on its own line in the format Name,Value — for example, Bitcoin,15000.
  2. Add as many holdings as needed, one per line.
  3. Select Calculate to see the total portfolio value and each holding's percentage weight, sorted from largest to smallest.
